Behind Flavor File

Hi, I’m Mia Oku!

Mia Oku, creator of Mia’s Flavor File

Mia’s Flavor File began as a way for me to collect the meals my husband and I love, so I could easily return to them whenever I needed inspiration or forgot what I did the first time. Let’s be honest, sometimes a meal comes out amazing, and then you can’t remember a single thing you added!

Now, I’m excited to share those recipes and ideas with you. Whether you are brand new to cooking and need beginner-friendly guidance, or you are an experienced cook looking for fresh inspiration, welcome to my page.

Mia’s Flavor File will continue to grow as my husband and I try new meals, discover new flavors, and create memories in our home. Have an idea, a suggestion, or simply want to chat? Feel free to send me a message.

I’m so excited for the food journey we’ll be taking together. And remember, the secret ingredients are always love and Adobo 😉

What you need

  • 1 lb top round or chuck, cut into 1-inch bites
  • 1 tbsp olive oil, for the marinade
  • 2 tsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • ½ tsp Goya Adobo
  • ½ tsp Goya Perfect Seasoning
  • ½ packet Goya Sazón with Coriander and Annatto
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Optional: squeeze of lime

Cooking timeline

  1. 0:00
    Marinate

Toss beef with 1 tbsp olive oil, soy sauce, half the garlic, Goya Adobo, Goya Perfect Seasoning, Sazón, paprika, onion powder, and pepper. Rest 20 minutes.

  2. 0:20
    Heat the pan

Pat off excess marinade. Heat a wide skillet over medium-high until properly hot.

  3. 0:23
    Sear in batches

Sear without crowding, about 2 minutes per side, until browned. If your skillet needs it, add only a light drizzle of oil to prevent sticking.

  4. 0:31
    Finish

Lower heat. Add butter and remaining garlic, toss for 30–60 seconds, then remove from the heat and rest for 5 minutes.

Trust Me on This: Crowding makes beef steam. Give those bites personal space like they owe each other money.
