Behind Flavor File

Hi, I’m Mia Oku!

Mia Oku, creator of Mia’s Flavor File

Mia’s Flavor File began as a way for me to collect the meals my husband and I love, so I could easily return to them whenever I needed inspiration or forgot what I did the first time. Let’s be honest, sometimes a meal comes out amazing, and then you can’t remember a single thing you added!

Now, I’m excited to share those recipes and ideas with you. Whether you are brand new to cooking and need beginner-friendly guidance, or you are an experienced cook looking for fresh inspiration, welcome to my page.

Mia’s Flavor File will continue to grow as my husband and I try new meals, discover new flavors, and create memories in our home. Have an idea, a suggestion, or simply want to chat? Feel free to send me a message.

I’m so excited for the food journey we’ll be taking together. And remember, the secret ingredients are always love and Adobo 😉

What you need

  • 1 can (15–16 oz) whole kernel corn, drained
  • ½ cup chicken stock
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp garlic paste, or ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp smoked or regular paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper

Cooking timeline

  1. 0:00
    Build the broth

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the chicken stock, butter, garlic, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper.

  2. 0:03
    Add the corn

Once the butter melts, add the drained corn and stir well.

  3. 0:05
    Reduce

Bring to a gentle simmer and cook 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the stock reduces and the corn looks glossy.

  4. 0:12
    Serve

Stir once more and serve while hot and glossy.

Trust Me on This: Let the stock reduce instead of draining it. That is where the corn picks up all the buttery chicken flavor.
