Behind Flavor File

Hi, I’m Mia Oku!

Mia Oku, creator of Mia’s Flavor File

Mia’s Flavor File began as a way for me to collect the meals my husband and I love, so I could easily return to them whenever I needed inspiration or forgot what I did the first time. Let’s be honest, sometimes a meal comes out amazing, and then you can’t remember a single thing you added!

Now, I’m excited to share those recipes and ideas with you. Whether you are brand new to cooking and need beginner-friendly guidance, or you are an experienced cook looking for fresh inspiration, welcome to my page.

Mia’s Flavor File will continue to grow as my husband and I try new meals, discover new flavors, and create memories in our home. Have an idea, a suggestion, or simply want to chat? Feel free to send me a message.

I’m so excited for the food journey we’ll be taking together. And remember, the secret ingredients are always love and Adobo 😉

What you need

  • For serving: 1 warm sliced baguette or crusty bread
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp dried parsley
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • Optional: 1 tbsp grated Parmesan

Cooking timeline

  1. 0:00
    Preheat

    Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. 0:02
    Make the oil dip

Combine the olive oil, grated garlic, oregano, dried parsley, red pepper flakes, black pepper, and salt. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes so the flavors blend.

  3. 0:05
    Warm the bread

Slice the baguette and bake for 5–7 minutes, until warm and lightly crisp.

  4. 0:15
    Finish + serve

Sprinkle Parmesan over the oil just before serving if using. Serve with the warm bread.

Trust Me on This: Let the oil sit while the bread warms. That short rest gives the garlic and herbs time to flavor every dip.
