Behind Flavor File

Hi, I’m Mia Oku!

Mia Oku, creator of Mia’s Flavor File

Mia’s Flavor File began as a way for me to collect the meals my husband and I love, so I could easily return to them whenever I needed inspiration or forgot what I did the first time. Let’s be honest, sometimes a meal comes out amazing, and then you can’t remember a single thing you added!

Now, I’m excited to share those recipes and ideas with you. Whether you are brand new to cooking and need beginner-friendly guidance, or you are an experienced cook looking for fresh inspiration, welcome to my page.

Mia’s Flavor File will continue to grow as my husband and I try new meals, discover new flavors, and create memories in our home. Have an idea, a suggestion, or simply want to chat? Feel free to send me a message.

I’m so excited for the food journey we’ll be taking together. And remember, the secret ingredients are always love and Adobo 😉

What you need

  • 6 sausage links, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • Frozen spinach
  • Frozen cauliflower rice
  • 1 packet Goya Sazón
  • 1–2 tsp Goya Adobo
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp oregano
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Optional: crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1–2 tsp soy sauce
  • Optional: tiny bit of butter for finishing

Cooking timeline

  1. 0:00
    Start the skillet

Brown the sliced sausage and onion in a large skillet. Add the frozen spinach and cook until loosened, then stir in the frozen cauliflower rice.

  2. 0:08
    Season everything

Add Sazón, Adobo, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, oregano, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir until evenly coated.

  3. 0:10
    Cook it down

Keep the heat on medium and cook uncovered for 10–15 minutes, stirring every 2–3 minutes, until the moisture evaporates and the cauliflower is tender with lightly browned edges.

  4. 0:23
    Add soy sauce

When the pan is mostly dry with no pooling liquid, add 1–2 tsp soy sauce. Stir and cook another 3–5 minutes.

  5. 0:28
    Finish

Taste and adjust only if needed. Stir in a tiny bit of butter for a richer finish.

Trust Me on This: Do not add the soy sauce while the pan is watery. Wait until it is mostly dry so the sauce coats and caramelizes instead of disappearing.
