Behind Flavor File

Hi, I’m Mia Oku!

Mia Oku, creator of Mia’s Flavor File

Mia’s Flavor File began as a way for me to collect the meals my husband and I love, so I could easily return to them whenever I needed inspiration or forgot what I did the first time. Let’s be honest, sometimes a meal comes out amazing, and then you can’t remember a single thing you added!

Now, I’m excited to share those recipes and ideas with you. Whether you are brand new to cooking and need beginner-friendly guidance, or you are an experienced cook looking for fresh inspiration, welcome to my page.

Mia’s Flavor File will continue to grow as my husband and I try new meals, discover new flavors, and create memories in our home. Have an idea, a suggestion, or simply want to chat? Feel free to send me a message.

I’m so excited for the food journey we’ll be taking together. And remember, the secret ingredients are always love and Adobo 😉

What you need

  • 1 lb ground lamb
  • 2–3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder, or ¼ small onion grated
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp dried oregano or parsley
  • ¾ tsp salt and ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs or panko

Cooking timeline

  1. 0:00
    Mix gently

Combine all ingredients gently with your hands. Do not overmix or the meatballs can become tough.

  2. 0:05
    Shape + rest

Roll into golf-ball-sized meatballs and let them sit for 5–10 minutes while the oven heats to 400°F.

  3. 0:15
    Bake

Bake for 18–22 minutes, flipping halfway through, until cooked through.

  4. 0:35
    Add color

Broil for the final 2 minutes if you want deeper browning, watching closely.

Trust Me on This: Mix with a gentle hand, not a workout. The egg and breadcrumbs keep the centers juicy while the short rest helps every meatball hold together.
